Glassic Answers: Why Are (Most) Sunglasses Black In Colour?

Sunglasses are mostly black in colour because they absorb more light, also it was something of a norm in the olden days that has not changed to date.

Black sunglasses actually decreases the amount of sunlight, penetrating your eye. And sunglasses also had something known as a polarising filter that helps it in cutting the UV rays coming from the sun. These filters are usually dark too. Here, our concern is not the heat, but the sun-rays. And also black things don’t reflect much.
